In the Epson International Photographic Pano Awards, Russian photographer Sergey Semonov submitted the above image (click here to enlarge) -- and took first place in the amateur category, The Atlantic Cities reported.
As part of a small team called AirPano, Semonov travels around the world creating 360-degree, 3-D aerial panoramas just like this one -- of the Golden Gate Bridge, the Taj Mahal, Dubai City and the Swiss Alps, to name a few.
Most often, the team shoots from helicopters and then stitches the images together. Below is another view of New York City, this time by setting a tripod out of a window:
