Photo of the Week - Space Shuttle Atlantis' Final Mission

Space shuttle Atlantis lifted off on Friday, July 8, shown above. This is the shuttle program’s final flight — it’s a 12-day mission to the International Space Station. Today, spacewalkers Mike Fossum and Ron Garan completed a six-hour, 31-minute spacewalk at 3:53 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. It was the 249th spacewalk by U.S. astronauts (shown below are Garan [top] and Fossum exiting the International Space Station's Quest airlock to begin their spacewalk.
