Updated App Shows California’s Electricity Demand

ISO Today now has a Net Demand chart shows users what California’s power consumption needs are without wind and solar energy.

Electricity demand and hourly production of renewable energy in California are two of the primary features headlining an updated version of ISO Today, a mobile app released by the California Independent System Operator.

“When energy consumption grows during the summer, we may need to call upon residents and business owners to conserver power to help maintain grid reliability and keep electricity flowing,” said Steve Berberich, president and CEO of the ISO, in a statement. “This mobile app will promptly display Flex Alert emergency notifications when conservation is needed.”
 
ISO Today can be download at the Apple App Store and Google Play. It is compatible with iOS6 and Android 2.3 for a variety of smartphones and tablets.
 
Update: The front- and back-end of the updated app was developed by Cal-ISO and Folsom, Calif.-based Kiefer Consulting.
