The Texas Association of Counties (TAC) last month at its annual conference, presented a series of best-practice awards. Now on its Web site, TAG highlights the innovations and the people who created them, in a series of 24 two-minute videos that explain the problem and innovative solution. Projects include:
The Travis County Sheriff's Inmate Population Search and Warrant on the Web program cut the central booking call center traffic by 40-50 percent from an average of 30,000 calls per month. Nacogdoches County's Judicial System Paper Ready Project cut the time for paperwork to go from the judge to the jail from 36 days to three days, and saved $250,000 in overflow inmate housing.
