Best of New York Honors Top Achievers in IT

The Annual GTC East Conference in Albany, New York recognizes the year's best public-sector IT leaders and projects.

Excellence in public-sector IT within the state of New York was recognized today at the annual GTC East Conference. Held in Albany,  this year marks the 25th anniversary of the event.

Honorees were chosen by the Center for Digital Government, owned by e.Republic, which is also the parent company of Government Technology magazine.

Fran Reiter, executive director of state operations, is the third recipient of the Hugh L. Carey Award, given to a New York public servant who has improved citizens' quality of life through his or her leadership, dedication and guidance.
 
Ms. Reiter, a longtime public servant, was honored for her many accomplishments including: implementing a statewide IT Project Portfolio Management process which will give New York a more comprehensive view of its IT investments; authoring and overseeing the implementation of the Lower Manhattan Revitalization Plan; and founding the Crown Heights Community Mediation Center, whose aim is to improve community problem-solving, collaboration, and inter-group relations in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. The award is named in honor of the late Gov. Hugh L. Carey, for his dedicated public service.
