According to Procera Networks, Inc., the State of Vermont will deploy Procera's PacketLogic to manage and secure a statewide network of Wi-Fi hot zones that will provide pay-as-you-go wireless broadband access for travelers. Initial rollout will begin in December 2006, and be managed by Summit Technologies, a leading wireless solution provider that has deployed multiple enterprise wireless LANs and hotspot implementations throughout the New England Area.
"Procera Networks provides state-of-the-art differentiated service levels for our statewide wireless network," said Robert White, director of Connect Vermont. "The ability to provision and manage multi-tiered wireless access throughout Vermont provides our state with a technology edge that offers unique benefits to our state's residents, mobile professionals and visitors."
The State of Vermont is actively embracing Wi-Fi technology as part of an ongoing initiative to support tourism, one of Vermont's leading industries. The new wireless network will connect state visitors to broadband and other online services, including secure access to websites dedicated to Vermont history and destinations.
"Procera is excited to play a key role in helping Vermont become an innovator in wireless technology usage and broadband Internet access in support of the State's key economic contributor, tourism," said Gary J. Johnson, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Procera Networks. "PacketLogic works seamlessly with existing network equipment to secure, control and optimize traffic in fixed as well as wireless networks, for service providers, including governmental agencies like the State of Vermont."
