The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) is pleased to announce that Nicholas Negroponte and Dewitt Jones will deliver keynotes at its membership conference this year.

The 27th annual National Educational Computing Conference (NECC) will be held July 5-7, 2006, at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, Calif. The premier national and international Ed Tech event, NECC 2006: "Explore, Dream, Discover" is presented by ISTE in cooperation with California Computer-Using Educators. It is expected to draw more than 16,000 teachers, teacher educators, technology coordinators, library media specialists, administrators, policy makers, industry representatives, and exhibitors from around the globe.

A pioneer of the digital age, Nicholas Negroponte is a founder of "Wired" magazine and author of the bestselling book, "Being Digital," which has been translated into more than 40 languages. He also chairs MIT's Media Lab and its exciting new research initiative, One Laptop Per Child. OLPC, also known as the $100 laptop project, aims to revolutionize education by putting a compact, durable, no-frills but internet-ready computer into the hands of millions of children worldwide. A prototype of the $100 laptop debuted last fall at a UN conference in Tunis.

Negroponte's keynote address will be held at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 6.
