Book Highlights Citizen-to-Local-Government Collaboration

Jul 2, 2008, News Report

A new book examines technology's role in citizen-to-government collaboration at the local level. Beyond e-Government and e-Democracy: A Global Perspective explores the drive for more citizen interaction and participation with government, and the policy issues it raises.

The book contains 27 chapters and case studies, written by 44 authors representing 10 nations on topics as diverse as Internet voting, community networks, e-government and competition, and more.

"The common theme that runs through this book is the commitment of local government to provide the public with the fast, efficient and now more interactive services that citizens have come to expect," said Dr. Alan Shark, executive director of Public Technology Institute and the book's co-executive editor with Dr. Sylviane Toporkoff.

Beyond e-Government and e-Democracy: A Global Perspective is published by Public Technology Institute and ITEMS International. The book is now available from Amazon.com.
