Washington D.C. Transit Police Exploring Text Messaged Reports by Employees and Passengers

Sep 15, 2008, News Report

In an online lunch chat with riders on Friday, Washington, D.C., Metro Transit Police Chief Michael Taborn responded to a suggestion that riders be able to text message reports on unruly riders -- saying: "Right now, actually, we are exploring that possibility with our employees to allow them to send Blackberry messages to us. So if an employee in the system sees a crime as you've explained, they could send us an e-mail. If the pilot is successful, we will consider expanding that by establishing an e-mail address for the public to do exactly the same thing."
