Brief: Detroit Utility Partners with Private Firm for New Energy Tracking App

The app lets DTE Energy customers set energy-usage goals, study their household's consumption patterns and learn energy-saving tips.

(Tribune News Service) -- The new smartphone application that allows DTE Energy consumers to track their energy usage in real time will soon be available for other utility companies to offer to their customers.

This new version of the DTE Insight app is called Powerley. It lets customers set energy-usage goals, study their household's consumption patterns and learn energy-saving tips.

The app was produced in a joint venture between DTE and Royal Oak-based Vectorform, a technology and design firm. It will be available for free download at the App Store or Google Play.

The DTE Insight app has been downloaded over 45,000 times since its introduction last year.
