The New York Times reported Saturday that the Chinese government is now requiring real name registration for all posted news comments. The government -- which already has heavy control of Internet activity -- backed down after a public furor about a previous requirement to use the Green Dam Youth Escort software that also blocked content the government deemed offensive. As a result, the newest requirement was put in covertly, according to reports.
