The program, which began Tuesday, Jan. 22 and ends Thursday, Feb. 8, permits citations delinquent on or before Oct. 21, 2012, to be paid at the lower cost.
“We encourage everyone who has a delinquent citation with the City of Houston to take advantage of this amnesty program by paying their fines at a reduced rate during this time,” said Gwendolyn Goins, spokeswoman for the Municipal Courts, in a statement.
According to Texas.gov – where the payments can be completed – the amnesty period also dismisses some Failure to Appear charges and clears some outstanding warrants, along with their associated fees.
