NYPD's Data Exposed in Hacker Raid

Credit card files not encrypted

On Monday, the Washington Post revealed that a November hacker attack on security firm Guidance Software exposed personal and financial information of law enforcement and security personnel, including the New York City Police Department.

At risk, said the Post, were unencrypted credit card records of the firm's customers that included the U.S. Secret Service, FBI and NYPD.

When contacted by Government Technology, a spokesperson for Guidance Software declined to comment saying that an investigation was still under way.
