Pitkin County, Colo., Receives Digital Counties Award

An outstanding example of counties using information and communications technology.

Pitkin County, Colo.  -- a top finisher in the 2011 Digital Counties Survey  -- received its award in a special presentation Sept. 14 before the Board of Commissioners.

The survey -- which recognizes outstanding examples of counties using information and communications technology -- is conducted each year by e.Republic’s Center for Digital Government and Digital Communities program, in partnership with the National Association of Counties (NACo).

The award was presented by Andrew Monaghan, a representative of McAfee, one of this year's survey underwriters.

Wayne E. Hanson served as a writer and editor with e.Republic from 1989 to 2013, having worked for several business units including Government Technology magazine, the Center for Digital Government, Governing, and Digital Communities. Hanson was a juror from 1999 to 2004 with the Stockholm Challenge and Global Junior Challenge competitions in information technology and education.
