Tranzeo Wireless Introduces Dual Radio Outdoor Wireless Mesh Router

Tranzeo EnRoute500 achieves the industry's lowest cost of ownership while providing maximum range, interoperability, scalability, and easy installation, according to the company.

Tranzeo Wireless Technologies Inc. has added what it describes as the industry's most cost-effective wireless mesh solution to its product portfolio with the introduction of the EnRoute500 patented dual radio outdoor wireless mesh router.

"EnRoute500 devices self-assemble to form a wireless mesh network via a dedicated 802.11a mesh-enabled radio that supports wireless voice, video and data communications," said Tranzeo Wireless president and CEO Jim Tocher. The device's 802.11b/g radio serves as an access point providing connectivity to Wi-Fi client devices within range and this dual radio structure maximizes throughput by separating client access from the mesh backhaul channel.

"The ability to offer a true mesh solution in our line up of products allows our company to compete in the growing municipal mesh marketplace around the world," said Tocher.

The EnRoute500 WirelessFabric software has an advanced Quality of Service (QoS) feature that efficiently prioritizes voice (VoIP), video and data traffic over the network. It also supports secure Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) and enables multiple user classes with up to four ESSIDs.

The EnRoute500 dual radio outdoor wireless mesh router and WirelessFabric network software were acquired by Tranzeo Wireless from Sensoria Corporation in a transaction that closed February 1, 2007. Networks based on Tranzeo's EnRoute500 technology in use today include municipal deployments such as the City of Escondido, Calif.; wireless Internet hotspots including one in Whistler, B.C.; campus networks such as California State University San Marcos and University of the Virgin Islands' Research and Technology Park; and commuter rail lines such as Caltrain's pilot between Millbrae and Palo Alto in Northern California. Applications include public Internet access, city worker access, security and video surveillance among others.

Tranzeo Wireless Technologies Inc. has also teamed up with Wavesat to develop WiMAX-enabled customer premise equipment (CPE). These new radio devices manufactured by Tranzeo and powered by Wavesat chipsets will be used to provide wireless broadband access to homes and businesses based on the WiMAX standar.

The new Tranzeo 3.5 GHz and 5.8 GHz WiMAX CPE products will feature Wavesat's DM256 802.16 chipset and its WiMAX Mini-PCI design and are expected to be available by the end of second quarter 2007 through Tranzeo's international network of 18 distributors and 2,465 dealers.
