Job: VP of Innovation Killer

I've met many of these people in these positions.

With innovation swirling around us and the rate of change increasing and not decreasing, if you are not innovating – you are likely setting yourself and your organization up for failure in the near future.

Thus, I loved this Innovation Killer Org Chart If there are any risks to be taken, don't look for these people to be on the front line of change. The status quo is good and why won't what we've been doing continue to succeed? Do you currently hold a position on this chart? The reason I left the state of Washington's Emergency Management Division back in 1996 was the fact that the boss there had no taste for change or innovation.

I like the fact that Jeff Bezos, CEO for Amazon, has said that another company will come along and "out innovate" Amazon at some point in the future. For now, the Walmarts of the world are trying to catch-up with him.

Eric Holdeman is a contributing writer for Emergency Management magazine and is the former director of the King County, Wash., Office of Emergency Management.
