Laserfiche for State and Local Government

Katie Burke

Since 1987, Laserfiche has used its Run Smarter® philosophy to create simple and elegant enterprise content management (ECM) solutions. More than 34,000 organizations worldwide—including many state and local government agencies and departments—use Laserfiche® software to streamline document, records and business process management.

  • By digitizing paper archives, Laserfiche enables users to instantly pinpoint the information they need, collaborate more effectively and complete daily tasks more efficiently.
  • Secure Web access allows governments to easily share information with other agencies and with constituents, while comprehensive security options protect information from unauthorized access or release.
  • Records management functionality also ensures compliance with a range of standards, including Department of Defense (DoD) standard 5015.2.

Loudoun County, named consistently to the Center for Digital Government’s list of America’s Top Digital Counties since 2004, is a shining example of the power of Laserfiche software to cut costs and streamline county services. Within just one year of the Laserfiche implementation in Family Services, the department was saving $50,000 on office supplies alone.

According to Jakub Jedrzejczak, Enterprise Imaging Team Manager, “To date, we’ve moved 1,500 active users in 21 departments onto Laserfiche. We’ve also integrated it with 19 other systems and, although we still have a long way to go in replacing old systems, we’ve been able to eliminate about 20 legacy systems so far.

“Using Laserfiche allows us to use the same solution in multiple departments without having to write more code. For example, after we created a fax system integration for Family Services, we were able to roll it out to other departments very quickly—in days, not weeks or months.”
