The Digital Communities program is an initiative of the Center for Digital Government and Government Technology magazine and is especially designed to help local government professionals improve public service delivery through the efficient and effective use of information and communication technology. Participation is open to all local government professionals at no charge. Simply contact us to receive your invitation.
As a member you have the option to receive a free subscription to our quarterly Digital Communities magazine and our regular enewsletter.
There are several participation opportunities that include collaboration and professional networking through our Digital Communities Task Forces. Each task force has its’ own on-line collaboration site where members can interact, pose and answer questions and share information.
Membership in the DIGITAL INFRASTRUCTURE Task Force is open to local government officials from any size jurisdiction. A broad range of topics are discussed including application development and management, network administration, web site and portal creation and management, security management, geographic information systems and strategies for citizen engagement.
The LAW ENFORCEMENT INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY Task Force is open to local law enforcement officials from across the nation, both sworn and civilian, and is a forum for discussion of technology trends and collaboration and information sharing opportunities within the local law enforcement community.
The CIO Leadership Group is open to Chief Information Officers from the largest cities and counties; those with city populations over 500,000 or county populations over 1,000,000 and jurisdictional budgets over 1,000,000,000.
From time to time the Digital Communities Program hosts face-to-face meetings for participants, web casts and membership conference calls to discuss specific issues or technologies. Task forces will also be collaborating with the Center for Digital Government on the creation of white papers that explore timely and developing issues of technology deployment in local government.
