Computers from National Governors Association meeting go to Idaho libraries

BOISE, Idaho -- Thirty-eight libraries across Idaho received computers, printers and other equipment used at the National Governors Association Annual Meeting held in Boise in July.

Gov. Dirk Kempthorne and Hewlett-Packard officials said $150,000 worth of computers, printers and network hardware will be used by the libraries to improve public access and update technology for library patrons. Most of the facilities are located in rural communities.

"The NGA Annual Meeting in Boise was a great success," Kempthorne said. "It brought our state and our capital city national attention and contributed several million dollars to the state's economy. I wanted to make sure we were able to extend the benefits of hosting the nation's governors to more of the state."

Kempthorne said HP worked with his office and the Idaho State Library to donate the nearly new hardware to rural libraries across the state to give Idaho citizens the latest in computers and Internet access.
