Federal Government Launches E-learning Program

Initiative offers learning materials to 1.8 million federal employees.

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Nearly 2 million federal government employees will gain access to training in information technology, desktop applications, and business and professional skills through the Gov Online Learning Center.

The learning center, launched in July, creates a hub of e-learning courses and resources that expands access to core training materials across the federal government and supports President George W. Bush's 21st Century Workforce executive order calling for initiatives that streamline workplace education and retraining.

The Gov Online Learning Center includes e-learning courses from NETg, a provider of blended learning content and services. The current phase of the initiative includes courses on subjects such as popular desktop word processing and database applications, time management techniques, and leadership training.
