Florida Local Government Web Site Boosts Convenience

MyFloridaCounty.com -- a Web site that provides information and services from a group of local jurisdictions in Florida -- now offers a subscription service for citizens and businesses.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- MyFloridaCounty.com -- a Web site that provides information and services from a group of local jurisdictions in Florida -- now offers a subscription service for citizens and businesses.

Subscribers to the Web site will receive monthly invoices, detailed online management reports and discounted convenience fees for transactions conducted over the Internet.

The first service available to subscription customers is ordering official records from 50 of Florida's 67 county clerks of court, and officials said new counties are being added to the system regularly. Visitors to the site can request copies of deeds, mortgages, marriage certificates and other civil court records with just a few clicks of a mouse.

"We expect our highest volume customers, such as mortgage companies and law firms, will appreciate the increased convenience and cost savings that the subscription service can provide," said R.B. Shore, Manatee County clerk of the court and president of the Florida Local Government Internet Consortium.

Now, subscribers can pay for online services by either a paper check or an electronic check that is debited directly from a bank account. The Web site previously accepted credit card payments only.

"The new subscription option allows businesses with more traditional accounting structures to easily use the online service," said Mukesh Patel, general manager of MyFloridaCounty.com.

The $120 annual subscription fee provides up to five user names and passwords that provide authorized people or company departments with unlimited access to the services. Accounts are invoiced for all transactions on a monthly basis. Subscribers can also take advantage of customizable order reference codes, a convenience that helps businesses track charges they wish to bill back to clients.

MyFloridaCounty.com is produced by the Florida Local Government Internet Consortium, which includes the Florida clerks of court and Florida tax collectors, in partnership with the Florida Association of Court Clerks Services Group and electronic-government firm NIC.

In November, MyFloridaCounty will launch a suite of child-support services, including payment histories and online payments for noncustodial parents and employers.
