Engler, 54, will serve as a vice president in the government-services division of Plano, Texas-based EDS.
The Republican left office this month after 12 years as governor because of term limits. During his tenure, Engler promoted statewide high-speed Internet access, put money into developing a high-tech life sciences corridor and recently broke ground on a new center for fuel cell development in Detroit.
"I have been greatly impressed with the technological leadership John Engler not only talked about, but delivered, in his 12 years as the governor of Michigan," said EDS's chairman and chief executive, Dick Brown.
