Intelligent Community Conference and Awards 2004 (ICCA 2004) is being held on June 10-11.

At ICCA 2004, attendees will learn how communities large and small, in the United States and overseas, are building prosperity on a digital-age foundation, with strong, positive leadership from the public sector. From e-government to public-private joint ventures, innovative financing to neighborhood-based training, ICCA 2004 will bring together all the information and advice needed to make informed decisions.

Speakers include:

  • James Balsillie, chairman and co-CEO of Research in Motion, manufacturer of the BlackBerry, on how the Digital Revolution is changing the way we live and work.

  • Gino Menchini, New York City's commissioner for Information Technology and Telecom, on using communications technology to improve quality of life.

  • Lee Rainie, director of the Pew Internet and American Life Project, on how the Internet is changing families, the workplace and community life.

  • Michael Binder, assistant deputy minister -- Spectrum, Information Technologies and Telecommunications, Industry Canada, on Canada's broadband policy and commitment to connect all Canadians.

  • John Gilbert, chief operating officer, Rudin Management, on his vision for a more "intelligent" New York and the role the real estate industry plays in attracting and retaining businesses.

  • Councilwoman Gale Brewer, chair of the New York City Council's Committee on Technology, on how smart use of technology can bridge the digital divide in schools while reducing government waste.

  • Sarah McCue, senior partner for ICT Partnerships at the World Bank, on the economic opportunities the Internet is bringing to developing nations.
ICCA 2004 also offers a line-up of workshops and special events, making it a must-attend event for:

  • Government officials at the local, county, state and national levels, who will learn how broadband and IT contribute to growth. They'll also meet finance, technology and real-estate companies committed to helping improve quality of life and business attraction and retention.

  • Private-sector executives in IT, telecom, finance, real estate and professional services, who will meet decision-makers on broadband network and e-government deployment, gain a better understanding of their needs and share insights on systems and solutions in place worldwide.

  • Nonprofit executives and educators, who will learn about the latest developments that impact their specialties and explore the role educational institutions play in creating a competitive work force.
Attendees who register by May 20th will receive discounted hotel rooms and a 20 percent discount on the registration price.
