Kentucky Expands Career Opportunities System

"Our citizens no longer have to drive hundreds of miles to the capital to apply for positions that may only be a couple of miles from their homes."

The commonwealth of Kentucky has expanded its enterprise resource planning system with the AMS Advantage Talent Management from the CGI Group and will now add the performance budgeting (PB) module. This next phase of the project is scheduled to be completed by August 2009.

The new Web-based AMS Advantage performance budgeting tool provides Kentucky with an integrated budget preparation package that enables the real-time budget formulation, analysis and reporting capabilities required to measure and achieve the state's financial goals.

This latest extension comes after the state won a "Best of Kentucky" award for its Career Opportunities System (COS) at the Kentucky Digital Summit in April. Named "Best Application Serving a Public Organization," the COS utilizes CGI's AMS Advantage Talent Management solution powered by Kenexa BrassRing to allow applicants to create and manage their state employment applications online.

"The COS, including CGI's AMS Advantage Talent Management System, has provided significant improvement to both our public and government operations" said Carla Hawkins, a commissioner with the Personnel Cabinet for Kentucky. "In its first four months, more than 18,000 applications were completed online, an increase of 25 percent over the previous process and office visits have dropped from 100 per day to below 20. Agencies have benefited from an expanded geographic recruiting pool, as well as process efficiencies and employee morale. Even better, our citizens no longer have to drive hundreds of miles to the capital to apply for positions that may only be a couple of miles from their homes."
