Ohio Strengthens Learning Technology

Enterprise Ohio Network installed solution to manage workforce development program.

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. -- Corporate learners, displaced workers and college students will manage their educational needs via Web browser under a system deployed by the state of Ohio. The new learning resources are delivered though the Enterprise Ohio Network (EON) -- which spans Ohio's 53 two-year college campuses. The capabilities are intended to strengthen workforce development, help retain existing businesses and encourage employment growth throughout the state.

The system, implemented by a consortium of companies led by computer-based testing firm Prometric, relies on Saba's enterprise learning software to manage learner assessments, certifications, profiles and competencies. The initiative also includes the creation of SkillsMAX centers at Ohio's two-year colleges, where students will work with consultants to assess their skills, create job profiles and perform gap analysis.

"We will leverage the Internet-based, scalable Saba architecture to effectively measure and manage workforce competencies throughout our campuses," said Matt Stencil, SkillsMAX director for EON, which is sponsored by the Ohio Board of Regents.
