Phoenix Launches Web Site for Environmentally Preferable Purchasing

January 9, 2008 By

The city of Phoenix launched its Environmentally Preferable Purchasing (EPP) Web site featuring recommendations that will help employees and residents increase green purchasing in the city of Phoenix to reduce the adverse impact on the environment.

The city's EPP program integrates contract provisions for environmentally preferable products that consider price, performance and environmental effects over a product's lifecycle. The program encourages residents and consumers to adopt an EPP plan and provides additional contract award opportunities for manufacturers and vendors that carry green products.

The program consists of inserting green requirements in selected contracts while working with specific departments to set annual goals for buying green. Visit the EPP Web site at phoenix.gov/epp for more information.
