Program Responds to IT Security Demands

Element K Offers Support for New IT Security Technology Certification

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Element K, a provider of solutions for information technology and business skills training, will contribute to the development of the CompTIA Security+ certification. As a content provider for all of CompTIA's certification programs, Element K will now release curriculum that maps to the Security+ certification. Security+ is a stepping-stone into the Security Certification Professional (SCP) program, offered through Ascendant Learning.

The new Security+ certification program responds to growing demand for IT security.

"According to JP Morgan Securities, the federal government is poised to spend $4.3 billion on IT security in FY 2003," said Uday O. Ali Pabrai, co-creator of SCP and vice chairman of the Security+ program. "With Security+ as their starting point, and the Security Certified Program (SCP) as their enterprise ready, security professional and architect skill development program, IT professionals have a unique opportunity to position themselves in a career that is valued by both employers and government agencies."

Ascendant Learning's SCP program is a two-level, vendor-neutral security certification program that enables individuals to acquire skills and receive certification as a Security Certified Network Professional (Level 1) or a Security Certified Network Architect (Level 2). Already a provider of preparatory courseware for SCP, Element K will offer similarly structured courseware for Security+.

The Security+ certification tests will be available in December 2002.
