Seattle Survey Guides Tech Policy

To inform city decisions about technology outreach to the public, the city of Seattle is asking residents to take an online survey.

From now until April 19, Seattle residents will have an opportunity to help their city understand how to adopt technology. By taking a 15 -minute survey, residents will guide the city in its decisions on digital inclusion, cable refranchising, website design, public access TV offerings and public outreach.

“We want to ensure all residents have access to next generation technologies and the skills to use them,” Mayor Mike McGinn said in a press release. “This survey provides us with current data on how residents use the Internet and social media. The results will help us offer more choices for residents wanting to communicate with government.”

The survey is part of Seattle’s Information Technology Indicators Project, an effort to increase broadband use and technology access across the city. Similar surveys were conducted in past years, leading to the development of various technology programs, including the Gigabit Squared broadband network scheduled for deployment in 12 neighborhoods later this year.
