South Dakota Upgrades Child Support Payment System

State speeds payment process with automated system.

PIERRE, S.D. -- South Dakota's Office of Child Support Enforcement was looking to update its payment system. The office wanted a way to process both paper and electronic payments quickly and efficiently.

The state selected the KidCARE child support payment processing system to handle incoming payments, replacing its non-image DOS system with an easy-to-use Windows system that captures images of payments and related documents. It provides a platform to process paper-based payments, electronic payments, images of payments and related "white paper" (documents that may accompany a payment).

South Dakota, recipient of the National Child Support Enforcement Association's 2003 "Outstanding Program of the Year" award, feels the system offers significant efficiencies, features and a clear vision of the payment processing future. DMP's KidCARE system handles large volumes of check, cash, credit card and Internet payments on a daily basis.
