U.S. Government to Expand Online Learning Center

The federal government's Gov Online learning center, the nation's largest e-learning implementation, has started work on a series of upgrades.

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa -- The federal government's Gov Online learning center, the nation's largest e-learning implementation, has started work on a series of upgrades.

Gov Online, a joint initiative of the Office of Management & Budget and the Office of Personnel Management, is designed to simplify and unify e-training services across the federal government. It provides one-stop e-training to more than 1.8 million federal government employees.

Launched in July of 2002, Gov Online expects to roll out Module 2 of its service in early 2003. The new module will add fee-for-service e-learning products, competency management tools and administrative enhancements to the site . Gov Online will use learning management technology from GeoLearning Inc. to implement the upgrades.

The company also provides learning management solutions to the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms; National Weather Service; U.S. Comptroller of the Currency; National Institute of Corrections; and NASA.
