Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, Kansas Selects New Enterprise E-Government Solution

The Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, Kansas, selected Accela Automation to be implemented as the unified government's new enterprise permit and land management solution. The solution will be deployed in the Building Inspection, Code Enforcement, Rental License, Business License, Service Request Center, Environmental Health, and Urban Planning and Land Use departments.

Employees will use the new application to automate permitting, inspections, workflow, project management, plan review, code enforcement, and other critical agency functions, according to a release from the company. Users will access the application using a Web browser, reducing the IT effort needed to configure and maintain the application on client machines.

"Accela Automation provides us with an integrated, end-to-end solution for managing our development functions as well as our neighborhood stabilization and preservation activities, including enhanced tools for providing citizen access to permitting services, GIS integration, and mobile government capabilities," stated Greg Talkin, director of neighborhood resources at the unified government.

Additional business solutions to be implemented by the agency include:
  • Mobile inspection capabilities to streamline the inspection and approval process for the unified government.
  • Direct access to all geographic land use, zoning, and infrastructure information associated with a parcel, permit, inspection, or plan.
  • Citizen access portal that provides real-time, direct access via the Internet to the unified government's permit and land management activities.
