USPS reveals R2-D2 mystery.

As reported earlier this month when R2-D2 styled mailboxes began showing up around the country, the US Postal Service and Lucas Films, Ltd. have joined forces.

Yoda, Luke Skywalker and everyone's favorite droid turned mailbox R2-D2 will be appearing on new Star Wars themed commemorative stamps to be released in May.

"Star Wars fans everywhere will delight in the issuance of these exciting new postage stamps. Because of the movies' popularity, we believe these stamps have the potential of reaching the blockbuster status of the Elvis stamp," said David Failor, executive director of Stamp Services, U.S. Postal Service, who made the announcement of the new Star Wars stamps along with R2-D2 and others.

The public is being invited to vote online for a favorite stamp starting today. The 15 to choose from include images from all six Star Wars movies: Luke Skywalker; Han Solo and Chewbacca; Princess Leia with R2-D2; C-3PO; Yoda; Queen Padm
