Where Do People Check-In on Social Media Most Often?

Facebook ranks check-ins to 25 global hot spots.

Have you been to Lotte World in Seoul, South Korea? Planning a catch a game at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada? Would you care to dance at the Propaganda Night Club in Moscow? Perhaps more importantly, if you do visit these destinations, will you share it with friends via social media?

While opinions vary about the activity of publicizing your physical location via channels like Facebook and FourSquare, the phenomenon shows no signs of disappearing. Facebook recently published some interesting statistics ranking the most social landmarks around the world based on the number of check-ins each destination received.

Sports venues receive a lot of check-ins, as do public gathering spots like parks and gardens. Social media enthusiasts also like to share their visits to amusement parks, concert spots, shopping centers and restaurants. Not surprisingly, warm weather inspires more check-ins to outdoor destinations, while colder climates lead to more indoor check-ins.
