"This exciting collaboration with our sister institution allows us to offer a new concentration that meets a growing demand in the commonwealth," said Dr. George F. "Jody" Harpster Jr., the university's president.
The cybersecurity concentration within the master of science in computer science program will begin this fall.
The concentration consists of four courses, three of which will be taught online through California's professional science master's cybersecurity program.
Shippensburg also will offer a new concentration in management information systems (MIS) this fall, which includes courses offered through Shippensburg's John L. Grove College of Business.
The master of science in computer science degree offers software engineering and IT leadership concentrations.
Online program cited as best value
Shippensburg University's online MBA program has been ranked the 10th best value in the nation and best in Pennsylvania by ValueColleges.com.The ranking of AACSB-accredited business schools was based on national ranking, tuition cost and median salaries for graduates.
In its listing of Top 50 Best Value Online MBA Programs of 2015, Value Colleges said, Shippensburg University "offers an online MBA designed for flexibility and variety."
Dr. John Kooti, dean of the John L. Grove College of Business notes, "This latest ranking for the online MBA is especially meaningful in that it not only recognizes the quality of the program, but also the success of our graduates." Kooti noted that the college recently added concentrations to the MBA program giving online students options in supply chain management and finance.
Shippensburg University's MBA was first offered fully online in fall 2012. Students can complete the MBA program on either a full-time or part-time basis. Students also have the option of pursuing an MBA by taking classes on campus, in Harrisburg at the Dixon University Center, in York at the York Learning Center and in East Stroudsburg.
