MathAlive!, an interactive math and science exhibit, opens Jan. 30 at the Space Foundation Discovery Center.
It's the first time for the worldwide traveling exhibit to stop in Colorado Springs. It will be up through April 30.
The exhibit includes opportunities for kids and adults to design and play video games, race in a snowboard challenge, compete in a mountain bike race, create a modern city, capture a freeze-action photo and control a simulated Mars rover.
Raytheon also will provide travel and admission to the center for area school districts from surrounding counties this semester.
The new programs are designed to "inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers," Todd Probert, a vice president at Raytheon Intelligence, Information and Services, said in a statement.
Raytheon also is donating $37,000 to implement the Engineering is Elementary program in Colorado Springs School District 11, the Pikes Peak region's largest school district.
The grant funds classroom materials and training for 25 teachers, who will attend a workshop about the curriculum on Thursday. Elementary school students will learn engineering concepts and practices.
The grant will help D-11 "build pathways for students to embrace STEM subjects," according to Linda Sanders, health and science facilitator.
Last July, Raytheon announced a commitment to sponsor STEM-related educational activities at the Space Foundation Discovery Center through 2018.
