Reading, Pa., Combines Billing Systems

Nov 15, 2002, News Report

The City of Reading, Pennsylvania, is combining its billing for water, recycling, trash, and sewer services. The city selected Hansen's CIS solution based on the its capacity to work smoothly with the city's existing financial system and its flexibility to grow with the city's needs.

Currently, the city uses an outside vendor to process its water billing. The new solution will enable the city to bring its water billing in-house and to have one integrated solution that merges trash, recycling and sewer services onto one bill. The city is also going to achieve productivity gains by moving to an enterprise-wide platform designed to integrate day-to-day activities and transactions.

"We knew from our previous experience with other Hansen solutions that we could effectively gain control of our billing process and that the CIS solution could be easily integrated with our existing systems," said Henry Tangredi, information technology manager for the city of Reading. "Hansen provides a flexible product that will allow us to rapidly meet our city's changing utility billing needs while giving us the ability to connect our customers with a wealth of information that pertains directly to them."
