Corporate pledges totaling more than $38 million were tallied by the Hurricane Sandy Corporate Aid Tracker, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Business Civic Leadership Center announced Nov. 2. Pledges from more than 80 corporations from different business sectors include cash, products and services, and employee- and customer-matching campaigns.
Two-thirds of business aid has come in the form of direct monetary donations to organizations such as the American Red Cross and Feeding America, according to the center.
Anheuser-Busch packaged 44,000 cases of emergency drinking water and announced a donation of $100,000 to the American Red Cross to assist on-the-ground support for disaster relief workers and victims of Hurricane Sandy.
The Bank of America Charitable Foundation donated $1 million, half of which will be set aside for long-term recovery.
Morgan Stanley announced that the firm will match employees’ total contributions up to $2.5 million and make a minimum contribution to the American Red Cross of $1 million.
