Drone Testing and Usage Increasing

Here in the USA, we are moving at a snail's pace.

There are many nations who have put the pedal to the metal when it comes to paving the way for drone usage in their countries. I'm all for safety, but our rules and the pace of technology are quickly outpacing government's ability for rule making in a timely and effective manner.

This Government Technology magazine article, Drones Take Flight for Local Government, highlights the current "test bed" areas in the United States. It is a small fraction of what is going on around the country. I continue to read use cases for emergency management and our associated disciplines.

The sooner we figure out the ability to have "out-of-sight" drone operations the faster we will see a broader adoption of the technology across both government and the private sector.
