FEMA Disaster Payments Wrong 30% of the Time

And this is before Harvey, Irma and Maria.

FEMA is going to be under the microscope going forward for how they do disaster reimbursements. This is for individuals, businesses and governments. See this new article, Watchdog had warned about FEMA disaster funding.

The thing that I find of interest here is that the report is from earlier this summer before the trio of hurricane disasters. I believe that if they had trouble with "routine disasters," the surge of reimbursements that comes with three major disasters will cause their system of checks and balances to melt down. It is likely that they have been handing out money like it was trick or treat night. With a bunch of new hires and inexperienced people doing the grunt work, problems are sure to ensue.

The really bad part of this is that the FEMA inspector general will come behind them, find fault and expect repayment of funds disbursed inappropriately.

Thanks to Claire Rubin for sharing the above and for the next article that I'll blog on about FEMA hiring 2,000 more people. Again, that many, that fast will be problematic for them down the road.
