First Rising Seas, Now Land Degradation

How we use the land also impacts the future for people.

Competition for resources will be a key driver of future wars. In the lead-up to World War II, Nazi Germany and Hitler referred to the need for Lebensraum or, basically more living space for its people.

We already know that rising seas will take away land from people who live in that space now. They will be forced to move. While here in the United States it will feel more like an economic impact, in other places of the world, the migration of people will cause tensions between nations to rise.

I had not heard of the term "land degradation" before reading this article, Land degradation drives mass migration, climate change — experts. The speed of this happening is the only thing I question. Might it be faster? Could it take longer to happen? Eventually, I know that it will come about — in one form or fashion. We humans have a way with using up resources with no thought for future generations of people — even our own kin.
