Questionable Disaster Spending by FEMA

You can have it good, fast or cheap — pick two.

When the money flows like a river, mistakes can easily be made, see FEMA Is Spending Billions, and Some Questionable Companies Are Getting Work.

As noted in the article, FEMA has had to reach outside their typical circle of contractors to find suppliers. When that happens, dubious decisions can be made. I am positive that the FEMA inspector general will find plenty of issues with the contracting process that was followed during these extreme emergencies.

As for the quote above, think about it. You rarely if ever will get all three, either it will be fast and good, but not cheap. It could be fast and cheap and not good. Or, lastly — cheap and good, but you won't get it very fast. The chart below shows how spending has ramped up in the last two months. A billion here, a billion there, pretty soon you are talking about real money.
