The Hurricane Season Is Over, or Is It?

Be prepared for longer hurricane seasons in the future.

The hurricane season officially ends on Nov. 30. As reported here, 2018 was another significant year for hurricanes, Monsters Florence and Michael powered the deadly, destructive Atlantic hurricane season that ends Friday.

The article is a good summary of the two major storms that hit the United States. The one item I'd call your attention to is at the end where it is noted that there have been a few hurricanes that have not conformed to our artificial hurricane season that is marked on our calendar.

What we are seeing with our climate-impacted weather is that "the norms" are not what they used to be. I can see in the future that the hurricane season, like the fire season, will be begin earlier and end later, or perhaps — like the fire season in California — never have an ending.
