We Have Lost the Battle!

When informed people are willing to take the risk, what does that mean?

Short story is this, I found out that a very well-informed seismologist/geologist chose, in retirement, to purchase and live in a home in Long Beach, Wash. This area is a long sand spit that no one is getting off of at the time of a Cascadia Subduction generated tsunami.

In this case you have someone who knows all the risks and chooses to roll the dice for quality of life, seeing and hearing the ocean, and those wonderful sunsets, when there are no clouds.

If this type of person makes that kind of choice, isn't it game over for us emergency managers trying to educate the average citizen to avoid hazards?

Based on the above, I'm going to stop wearing my seat belt when I drive. I've been driving for 52 years and never needed one up to now. I should be good for another 20 years, don't you think?
