Who Needs a Deputy? Brock Long Does!

Appoint Peter Gaynor now!

Back-to-back major hurricanes are enough to test the abilities of any one person or agency. Brock Long, administrator for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), has a slot for a deputy director that remains unfilled. Pete Gaynor, Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency director, has been nominated, and there are another 21 FEMA positions that are vacant. I know Pete personally and he would be a great asset to Brock, the agency, and to state and local emergency managers.

I also know that having a deputy director was critical to my success as a local emergency management director in responding to disasters and in administering the overall emergency management program. The challenges that Brock Long has go way beyond my experiences.

So all you feds in authority, should anyone be paying attention, "Get Pete Gaynor confirmed and serving ASAP!"
