- Tim Gard - Author, Speaker Hall of Fame member

Description:
We are facing difficult times. The pressure to do more with less, deliver to deadlines, and respond to increasing expectations has - in many cases -
created an epidemic of stress and dysfunction. Everything seems so serious, and to Tim Gard this is not an acceptable way to work and live. Although he is one of the funniest men in America, Tim doesn't make light of serious situations; he shines light on them to reveal previously unseen possibilities. He points out that everyone smiles and laughs in the same language, and "finding humor when it's most needed" can be the very best way to boost morale and restore a creative atmosphere. After all, life is a game - or should be! It all depends on how one looks at things. By shifting your perspective, you can change your experience - and the experience you create for others - in a real, tangible, and valuable way. It's never too late to change the game.

Description:
The Johnson Space Center is NASA's center for spaceflight training, research and mission control. Its workforce of 15,000 includes a hundred astronauts, hundreds of scientists and thousands of engineers. It is perhaps the most exhilarating organization in the world - and at times the most daunting. Lieutenant General "Beak" Howell was the Director of the Space Center when the worst imaginable thing happened: the Columbia shuttle explosion in 2003. It was a demanding test of leadership, but one that Beak was uniquely qualified to meet after a career of profound - and often astounding - experiences. In this fascinating session, he shares the challenges and lessons learned that led to his legendary "Beak's Rules of Leadership".

Description:
Years ago, GIS evangelists proclaimed the powerful possibilities of combining data and maps. Many in those early days scoffed, believing a map to be just a map. Of course today we routinely witness brilliance and innovation made possible with GIS. Now, data analytics is a field in a similar situation. The sheer volume of data created today can seem overwhelming and endless. But now each day seems to bring forth fascinating new examples of how data analytics can not only make sense of the world but can help agencies improve it. Whether driving conversations and adding value back to the business; discovering waste, fraud and abuse; or crafting intelligent new policies and programs, data analytics marks a fundamental shift in how we understand the people and the world around us. This session will open your eyes to the possibilities that data analytics promises.

This session will focus on the importance of stepping back to examine what the purpose of the process is and how one can go about unlocking inefficiency by improving the organization of the task itself. You'll also learn about the role Lean Six Sigma can play in helping with your business process planning.
