Michigan: Consolidation Survivor
Ken Theis, Chief Information Officer, State of Michigan
Is consolidation like a serious illness - something to be survived? A few years ago, the State of Michigan began a sweeping IT centralization and consolidation project. It was not without pain, especially in the beginning, but today Michigan is not only running smoothly but is recognized as a national success story. How did they make it through the consolidation? Was the transition harder or easier than expected? What were the biggest lessons learned? And most importantly, how did they finish first among 50 states so soon after undergoing such a broad and fundamental restructuring? In this session, Ken Theis, Michigan's technology leader, candidly discusses the journey and how they were able to make it a true success story.
