- Tim Gard - Author, Speaker Hall of Fame member

Description:
We are facing difficult times. The pressure to do more with less, deliver to deadlines, and respond to increasing expectations has in many cases created an epidemic of stress and dysfunction. Everything seems so serious, and to Tim Gard this is not an acceptable way to work and live. Although he is one of the funniest men in America, Tim doesnt make light of serious situations; he shines light on them to reveal previously unseen possibilities. He points out that everyone smiles and laughs in the same language, and finding humor when its most needed can be the very best way to boost morale and restore a creative atmosphere. After all, life is a game or should be! It all depends on how one looks at things. By shifting your perspective, you can change your experience and the experience you create for others in a real, tangible, and valuable way. Its never too late to change the game.

Description:
25 years ago, IT was an impenetrable realm of complexity few people understood. Today, of course, IT facilitates every agency and every line of business. Yet, as we look toward the future of IT, there are many uncertainties. As the workforce ages and retires, many wonder whether weve produced an adequate number of graduates who can carry on the mission of IT. Will tomorrows technologists be able to pull legacy, modern and future systems together? And, it may be that the fundamental functions of IT we know today will, in the years to come, transform into something scarcely recognizable. This session will explore how the future of IT will radically change the workplace and beyond.

Since then, much has remained the same except for further technologization. True, technology has continually and dramatically affected how we work. Yet most people, especially in government, still work in traditional office environments. But, thats changing fast. Is it a new revolution? Almost certainly. The only question is to what degree. This session looks at recent research and predictions by Government Technology magazine into the changing workplace. After more than a century of the same basic work environment, is it time to blow up the model?
