"I wanted to work in an environment where I could make a difference and provide services directly to people," Takai told Crain's Detroit Business of her new position at Meridian Health. "I am happy to be back in the private sector and being in an industry focused on people."
Meridian Health Plan Chief Administrative Officer Sean Cotton noted that Takai joins the organization at a time of growth, and he expects the company to double in size to become a $3 billion or $4 billion company in the coming years. Takai’s knowledge in IT management is expected to facilitate that growth.
Takai, who served as DoD CIO for three years, told Government Technology that one of her biggest accomplishments was establishing the CIO brand for the DoD, paving the way for technology leaders to enact more institutional change in the future.
Takai also serves on the board of directors for the First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet), the organization now developing the nation’s first nationwide emergency responder communications network.
