Is This Invention the Future of Solar Power?

A German architect claims his spherical solar collector improves photovoltaic efficiency by 35 percent - and even works using moonlight.

German architect Andre Broessel has designed this glass globe that he claims can concentrate sunlight and even moonlight by 10,000 times, resulting in a solar power system that is 35 percent more efficient than traditional photovoltaic designs.

Whether or not that proves to be the case remains to be seen. But at FutureStructure we want to shine a light on the innovative ideas - the soft infrastructure - that have the potential to become transformative.
