GovTech Innovators: Christina Bivona-Tellez, Esri’s Global Manager of HHS

January 16, 2013 By

GovTech Innovator Christina Bivona-Tellez is Esri’s Global Manager of Health and Human Services, and she spoke to us about how Esri’s mapping technology helps hospitals track the spread of infectious diseases, which probably comes in handy with flu season in full swing.

Keeping tabs on epidemics allows hospitals to more accurately report health information to national disease trackers, like the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and these stats help authorities predict where an illness will hit next, and thus, hospitals and citizens in expecting areas can prepare accordingly in advance.

Bivona-Tellez shared the pros of geospatial tracking and how hospitals leverage that functionality for everyone’s benefit.
